Default 3/4 trucks have rear coil springs?

Did I really see a newer 3/4 with rear coil springs? If I did what are people's thoughts on stuffing them in a 1/2 ton?

Height and increased load. Maybe you wouldn't need air bags in the back for towing support

These trucks are built more and more like the proverbial One-hoss Shay. I doubt the axles are rated for any more than the springs, so if you increase load you are going to be stressing the axles.

For towing I would prefer supplementary methods, so that when you're not towing you get back to the factory suspension. Air bags are a great option IMO.

Extra height and towing don't usually go well together.

AAM 11.5" rear springs won't just drop in a ZF 9 1/4" so you'd have to fabricate just to get them in. Why not just buy heavy duty springs made for the truck?

Agreed with above. There is no shortcut to increased payload/towing. Springs alone won't accomplish it. It's only one part of a system of heavy-duty components. As usual, the quickest and cheapest way to achieve 3/4 ton rating is to purchase one in the first place.
