Default 2012 Ram radio module question

I bought a uconnect module but not sure if it is the right one, it is p/n 05091959AA. Anyone know if this will work in my 2012 Ram? My truck has the regular 130/res and no phone buttons or anything. I bought a 130s/res for it and was going to use it then realized I had to get the module and harness. They have made everything complicated and expensive! I remember you could just put in a new radio and that was it, not any more!

Actually it is easy to change the radio to any Mygig unit, they are all plug and play and take no more than a half hour to change.

The problem you are running into is upgrading to the features on the radio. The Uconnect module you have is the right one I believe, I am aware of only one unit for the radio.

Once you get it hooked up you will find that it doesn't work, that is not because the unit is bad, it is because you have to take your truck to the dealer for them to update the software so the radio will work with the Uconnect. Unfortunately they will probably charge you between $50 and $150 to do it. Once done it will unlock the system and your Uconnect will work.

There are other options to consider in the aftermarket, one is called a Lock Pick. This is an adapter that plugs between the radio and add on radio options such as your Uconnect and back up camera (need touch screen radio). This is just as pricey though, but you will not need to have the dealer update the software for it to work.

So on a my gig radio it doesn't need the uconnect module? I can just hook it up and the Bluetooth will work? Or is it just certain radios that have it all built in? I was on the my gig website and it doesn't really say no module required or anything but I have seen modules for sale and the seller stated the radio had it built in so that was why they were selling the module.

Only one Mygig has it built in and I think it is the RER, but don't quote me on that.

All the other radios need the module and will need to be flashed by the dealer or a lock pick installed. Newer 2013 and up are built in but that radio will not fit in 2012 and lower.
