Default Fender Flare question

So I'm getting a set of OEM Mopar fender flares for my 15 2500. In the past I have had an 09, and while researching a perforation/rust issue, I came across some information about people having rust underneath their fender flares. My question is does anyone have any sort or tips or things they have done before mounting fender flares to avoid this. Or is this just not needed. I was thinking of maybe putting a silicon bead where the fender flare meets the body, to keep debris out of the inside of the flare, etc..

Any advice is appreciated, if your in eastern side like me, hopefully you are shoveled out...

Its my understanding that the rust issue is caused by the foam that dodge used on the inner fender to connect to the outer fender. Over time the foam absorbs moisture and holds it to the inside of the outer fender, thus causing the rust. I own a 2010 ram 1500 and i have it oiled every year. So far no rust, and 90k kms. I live in Ontario,Canada and we have winter 6 months of the year.
hope this helps you....
