E brake issues again
Never use the ebrake on the truck, but occasionally the dealer decides to set it. I've already had to pound the rusty levers back a couple times so that the cable was not hanging. Been having some brake squeal lately so I decided to replace all the pads. Found that the ebrakes had been seized on enough to completely rip the brake material off the shoes. Shoes were rusted solid to the fixed pivot point and the brake lever was rusted solid.
SInce the brake was useless anyways I just gutted all the pieces and left the lever arm on the cable - since you apparently can't remove it without pulling the shafts due to lack of clearance.
Must have been dragging for a long time since I can feel the difference now. Wish dodge would go to a caliper based e-brake actuator rather than the drum in rotor style.
Eventually I'll get a full hardware kit and arms for the parking brake, but not sure I'll actually install any of it until the truck is ready for sale.

Plan on sticking with the Ram 1500 as a replacement? Seems that your truck has been fairly trouble-free based on your posts over the years...
