Default Front drive shaft spin in 2WD

Quick question on my 2009 Laramie 5.7 with 5 position transfer case switch - my front driveshaft spins even in 2WD - is that normal? I should know this by now since bought truck new.

I am feeling a vibration in the gas / brake pedal when driving above 30 and just started to look into this. Could it be tires(rotate them every 5k religiously)? Or?

I always thought the front shaft is disengaged and dosent spin in 2WD. Tried driving in reverse for a bit to see if anything changed but no change.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated - thanks all!

Yeah that's normal. The front diff still turns by wheel force and the shaft is still connected to the differential. It's just not LOCKED to the transfer case. It freewheels
