Default 2004 SX 2.0 - shift release not operating

I have an 2004 SX 2.0 parked in the driveway and the shift lever will not release when the brake is depressed. My damn warrenty ran out 23 days ago. Figures![:@]

Can anyboby in this fine forum tell me the simplest way to disable the inter-lock so I can shift. Or, can someone tell me what the probible cause of the failure is. If its simple (and cheap) it may be worth fixing the inter-lock.

Many thanks for any usefull information!

I just saw a response for the same question. It wasn't there yesterday when I searched the forum.
Sorry about that!

check in my post and btw if you want to change the whole cable its 70 from the dealer and you can't get it from a junkyard because you need the key to the ignition to get it out
