Default 2nd gen turbo ?

hi, im putting a turbo on my 00 neon, and i read that a stock neon oil pump wont hold up to the turbo set up, if i was to put it on the turbo and not go past 3lbs of boost how long do u think it would last, also would i be able to run the stock fuel system for a little while with minimal boost, 1-3 lbs. i have a srt4 waste gate, are those adjustable to lower than 4 psi? what would you guys concider the bare minimum needed to put the turbo on is what i asking, im planning on upgraing everthing just slowly and it looks like th oil pump is a pretty big job. on the srt 4 turbo what ports are what as far as oil coolant lines?

thanks alot guys!!

So I'm assuming you got the turbo stuff afterall??

But onto your many questions...the only way you could turn down the boost that much is to buy a MBC and hook it up, the stock SRT-4 WGA is set at 4-6psi i believe. If you want your engine to last, DO NOT install that turbo until you have a proper fuel system, the oil pump will last on low amounts of boost but i cannot stress enough how important it is to have the proper fuel setup and have it tuned to the right A/F.

Bare minimum to put that thing on are larger injectors, RRFPR, FMIC, return line, larger fuel pump, and i think that would be the absolute bare minimum...

I have run thestockoil pump for almost year now I am also running pretty high boost but my feul is rock solid. The feul setup is the most important part of turbo setup your setup is only as good and safe as your feul setup. I highly reccomend you atleast do return line with a rrfpr you can run. low boost 4psi maxon the stock injecters but this has too be a tempory setup because I doubt the stock feul pump will last long with the added stress if @ all. It would be better to wait till you get the parts you need too do it right the first time and avoid replacing the motor.

good luck

so how could i get the boost down to 3psi, dosent positive pressure (boost) open the wastegate? the MBC just trick the wastegate actuator into seeing less pressure and therfore keeping the waste gate closed longer increasing boost but i want to lower it? this is a stock srt4 waste gate. also any recomondation for the fuel return line and also turbo lines oil/coolant. i had a idea on how to run coolant to the turbo, let me know what you think, i was goin to run the turbo in series with the heater core, so basicly through the heater core, out of it and then ilet to the turbo and then out of the turbo and back to where the dump side of the heater core used to go, will it flow enough. i figured i could tun on my heat during racing?to cool off the coolant before entering the turbo, just an idea let me know if you think it willl work.

dont even worry about it at 8psi you wont even come close to needin a better oil pump. that would be well within your range

Thats only true as long as he has zero knock or detonation present.
