adware HELP!!!
every couple minutes another window pops up out of nowhere on my wife's computer. usually relating to text messaging or cellphone related crap. how do i find whats doing it and get rid of it? god only knows, probably was 'stuffed in' with some download on the net.
stuff like ringtones.net, wifefly.net and cellphone offers and such

well, good news through the military i get semantic for free, which has anti adware. i downloaded it. bad news is im now using my computer instead of hers. as it will now not even boot at all. it would 'freak out' and just keep opening window after window with that stupid ad site on it. run really slow the past week. it wont load windows now. hell, i cant even get it to load the bood cd

has a pretty good online scan for malware
that finds things adaware and spybot search and destroy seem to miss.
Ewido is now a part of the AVG company after being bought awhile ago

yeah, it wont let me reformat the HD while running windows. i tried loading a windows 98 boot disc, which did at least allow me to get to DOS without running windows at all. but to no avail.
how would I 'plug' the hard drive into another computer without removing it's hard drive. i have two identical laptops. the one im on does have antimalware on it, but if i remove the hard drive to put the bad one in it, ill have nothing but a bad harddrive. i was considering just ordering a new hard drive and going from there.

I have external cases for both my desktop and laptop, so I can service either machine rather quickly.
