Default 2010 Journey R/T replacing automatic transmission output shaft seal

Hey folks,

Needing to replace the automatic transmission output shaft seal on my journey (front). Any special tools or anything I will need? The part is really inexpensive, and would like to tackle it myself, but have never done it. Tried searching online but couldn't find any helpful videos. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

if you r referring to the power transfer unit output seal...
remove the exhaust, driveshaft, output flange nut and seal

I have transmission fluid leaking around the front passenger side axle at the transfer case.

there are 2 designs...does it have an intermediate shaft or not?
and when you are done...you need a scan tool and dealer dipstick to check the fluid level.

Yea, that's what I told them I needed, but they said that wasn't what it was called. Even the item description says it is an output shaft seal.

I'm not sure the answer to that question. I saw a dodge caliber video of the same year and it looked pretty straight forward. Just can never find any journey videos. I got someone who can check the fluids when I finish. I am just wanting to do the seal change myself to save a couple hundred dollars.

if the shaft comes out of the transaxle thru a support and then out to the steering knuckle...it has a intermediate shaft. if you are still not sure; post a pic from the wheel well in to the transaxle...so I can see the length of the axle shaft.
