Default Question Please Help a Girl out!

Hi my question is I was on my way home today I live atop a very steep hill, anyways it is pretty warm here today around 30 sorry don't know the US coversion, but when I was coming up the hill the car did not want to go then there was this burning smell, and the brakes got stiff and the steering become difficult. My dad was with me, so I turned the car off and then he took it for a little ride and nothing worked for him, I let it cool down for an hour and took it out again and it is fine.

So what could have caused this?

My dad thought maybe vapor lock?

The gauges were all good not registering anything abnormal, my reservoir tank for coolant needed a little topping off so I did that.

Sorry one more question how do you find out error code?

Default RE: Question Newbie here

did the car shut off or lose power? if power is lost/motor shuts off while driving the brake pedal will become hard and no power steering, which will make the steering seem very stiff.

can you describe the burning smell? what did it smell like?

The car semmed to keep it power, the a/c was still working as well as the radio, and i did have to actually turn the engine off, hte burning smell was close to burnt rubber, didn't smell elctrical, kind of reminded me of tar roofing.
