HVAC mod- I'm stuck.
 

First off I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I'm almost done with a blue-light conversion on my interior(guages, vent lights, HVAC), and I'm stuck on the last spot. I'm trying to remove the orange backing on the HVAC panel so the blue light will shine through but I can't seem to get it off without marring up the surrounding black outlines.

I had no trouble doing this to the cluster, it came right off with a bit of sanding & acetone but the HVAC panel has adhesive on the back.

Has anyone done this before? Anyone have any idea how I could accomplish this w/o ruining the HVAC panel or having to do microsurgery on it?
