My daughter has a 04 neon se 2.0L with a automatic trans. She was driving on the freeway las night and the car shut off and now will not start. as far as i can tell all fuses and relays are good, battery good, and ignition switch feels fine all the accessories seem to work but will not crank and no noise from solenoid. any and all help would be greatly appreciated

 

Get the battery load tested, check for stored codes.

 

had battery tested checks good and no stored codes. any other ideas.

 

Does it turn over or not?

 

does not turn over with key. tried jumping solenoid with a wire and it will turnover but still wont fire.

 

i have 01 neon se 5speed manuel and the same thing happen to me , on my neon it was the clutch pedal switch that fell off and cut power to the engine no crank no noise. everything else worked , so i think that a switch in the gear selector might be the problem

 

it is an automatic. i will pull the center console since i have the dash assembly almost out then i can check all wiring and switches i have schematics for. thanks for the info any and all ideas at this point are worth exploring

 

Good news yall after pulling dash and center console decided to replace heater core since I was this far checked wiring and switches all checked good, got car back together and decided to check every ground I could find loose/dirty ground to pcm cleaned and tightened car started right up. never thought a ground would cause this problem. live and learn. thanks all for the ideas
