I have an idea that should work. Get an old junk speedo cable and a drill. Then cut the cable and clamp it's inner cable in the drill where the bits go. Bolt the cable to the gauge and use the drill to whip your speedo up and the mileage should follow. Dunno if it'll work or not but it's cheaper than the dealer.

Well, I hope you never have to sell it then. Altering the odometer is a big deal legally. Either live with it or pay to get it done right I guess. It sucks that it wouldn't work though.

I'd pay for it to be fixed right... I believe it is a felony if you are caught messing with the odometer for any reason... Take it to another dealership in the area and tell them how this other dealership treated you... then explain they left out your recalls and you also have another problem. They'll probably kiss your butt since they love hearing about other dealers shortcomings.

The high cost of dealer work nowadays really goes mostly to the mechanic... the high labor rates it what your paying for...

Agreed about the labor rates...i get an employee discount on parts here but still have to pay the 75$ an hour labor charge<IMG src=smileys/smiley19.gif border="0">

My '87 Daytona Shelby Z had a replaced speedo in it. They put a sticker in the door jamb indicating that it has been replaced and the mileage that was on it and also the mileage on the replacement speedo when it was installed.
