Strut's
I have a set of KYB-GR2 gas strut's in my gararge .I have had them for some time now i wanted to put them on my 2000 neon but the thing is that the bolt holes arfe a bit to small for the factory bolt's.I w3as wodering if i should drill the holes larger to fit the bolts. Also they seem a bit to short for me cause i was going to put 18" on the back and 17' on the front kind of a German mark if you will. The stuts i got from HowllAuto and it was said these are a direct fit .I have read that some of you have these on your cars wiyh no problem ,How is this ?The springs seemed to fit funny on them to they would not sit rite on they strut post.Help.

RE: Strut's
Not 100% sure but it sounds like you possibly got the wrong struts. I could be wrong but I think they should fit with no modifications.

RE: Strut's
And I'd advise against eh 17's on the front and the 18's on the rear. Anything over 16"'s is a complete waste.

Why do u say this ?

RE: Strut's
Ride is going to be horrible. It's not going to handle as good as it will with smaller rims/tires combinations. A larger wheel means more weight. Throws your speedo off. You are going to find that you may ahve some fitment issues.
You can do it. Just not really recommended. |
RE: Strut's
Not to mention, that it will cut into your off the line power, the bigger the wheel, the less low end power.
Don't get me wrong, once you get it moving, it will be a rocket on the highway!!! Jeff Cold and damp in Philly |
RE: Strut's
Sure it hurts your acceleration, but larger rims handle better through the corners.

RE: Strut's
^ Actually thats a really big misconception because the worst thing for handling is unsprung weight and thats exactly what bigger rims add. Handling will only get better up to a certain point usually up to +2 rim size. Then the unsprung weight starts to counteract the smaller side wall. Besides Rotational weight is even worse it kills fuel milage, braking distance, and acceration. My advice is get a set of forged 16 inch rims (decent ones weigh about 11lbs a piece[sm=smiley4.gif]) and a really grippy set of tires and you will be much happier with your car (besides tires are much cheaper for 16s).
