Tire suggestions anyone?
 

Trying to find E rated tires about 33" tall. All I have found are 305/65/17E in procomp and BFG. These are more like 32.5." I want to slow down the motor a bit it gets a bit revved out with 4.11's. Any suggestions in the 33-34" range. I don't want to invest in 18" rims if possible.

I have been down both roads. I originally had 325-65-18 MickeyThompson ATZwith a 4.5" backspacing on American Racing Mojave teflons. That pretty much left the truck dirty and slowed that revs too much. I am now running 315-75-16 Nitto Dune Grapplers on stock rims and they rub a little at full lock. Both are E rated and I got 41,000 miles out of the Mickeys. I only have 3K on the Dune Grapplers but so far so good. By the way the 325s were 35x13.50x18 and the 315s are 35x12.50.16s.

Blacke did the slower revs help or hurt your milage?

i put 35 inch BFG mudd terrains slowed the rpms a little not that much and not as much as id hoped
i can do 5 more mph and the same rpm so say just for example 2000 rpm was 60 mph i can do about 65 at teh same given rpm... i think 35's is what should have came stock on the truck... next set of tires will deff be 37's my milage did not drop at all....

Check out Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips. They are rated at 3640 lbs. I have about 20,000 on mine and they are wearing fairly well and stay balanced. Just rotate every 5000-6000 miles.

If you want to see what effect the tires have on your engine, just use this formula.

(Old Tire Size / New Tire Size) x Current Gear Ratio = Effective Gearing.

Each step up or down in gears will have approx a 200 RPM impact at highway speed.

Example:

Lets say that you had 32's and went to 35's and had 3.73 gears....it would look like this.

(32/35) x 3.73 = 3.41

So basically, your truck would perform like it had 3.41's rather than the 3.73's. This is called effective gearing.

Now, if you want to see what gears you need to install to regain your lost performance from a tire size change, you just switch the formula a bit.

It looks like this...

(New Tire Size / Old Tire Size) x Current Gear Ratio = Gears You Need

Exmple...

You had 32's, went to 35's and had 3.73's.

(35/32) x 3.73 = 4.07 (4.10's would be the closest)
