Well ... this is the week. This is the week that should tell me if everything that I've done to my Ram will pay off. I've got new tires, speedo recalibrated, valves adjusted, cam sensor in, Edge Comp set on 3-4, Aero, K&N,everything else mechanically now in check, soafter filling up on fridaymy next fill up should give me mytrue MPG's.

I can't think of anything else to do to help me out MPG wise. :eek:

So PLEASE pray with me my fellow bretheren that after ALL of this, I'll at LEAST see 16 MPG or better.

That is one freaky looking cat. What kind of mileage have you been getting? Mostly town or highway? Strictly watching highway miles I've been extremely happy with mine. In January I drove 350 miles and averaged 19.3 driving 60-70 without cruise. Once I get in town or short trips it drops.

Right now I'm in the mid 14's, occasionally breaking 15. If I ever saw 19, my thoughts of a more econimical veichle would vanish.

Mayfair how much did the new **** cost you? Gotta factor that into any mileage savings.
You could turn your bed into just a chassis, thatll free up some weight and help out with your mpg LOL
or you could just do what my cousin did, married a saudi oil billionaires white step daughter. I told that sob I just want a barrel of oil every two weeks. Ha. (nobody needs to chime in with a smart ass comment on how I'd refine it LOL)

Oh yeah, wait for at least 3 or 4 fill ups to avg your fuel econ. I typically just do the math on every fill. What's with these diesels and poor mpg, thought they were known for good mpg and slow cold weather startups. I get about 15 with my truck, about 10% of my engine time is spent in 4x4 or idling so that hurts it. Highways ive seen up to 22mpg.

modifications that
let the tires roll with less horsepower
and push the vehicle thru the air with less horsepower
are dependable ways
to gain MPG

we should also not lose sight
of the idea
that what we really want
is less $ per mile driven

well mayfair even if u see 19mpg u would end up paying alot for tha
but to me the mod u did to ur truck cant be added into the equation,they are an ego boost so dont worry :)
i dont care about 10mpg if beasty was on 44' and had 1000hp
still working on a more pratical 600HP

Donny, what is your city/hiway mix like? I still recommend the drive by boost method... keep your boost under 7~10 psi under all conditions & your mileage will go up for sure. it just takes the fun aspect out of it.

Close... Really close...

Here is the real deal... You want to keep your pyro under 600*F and boost under 5 PSI and 20+ MPG can happen. Remember the pyro is how much fuel your dumping in the cylinder. Hotter temps mean more fuel being used...

Here is 65 MPH - 14.8 MPG and 700*F pyro &7-10 PSI Boost producing 74.6 HP

Mayfair the force is with you... Just remove the lead out of your boot and HIGH MPG can happen for you too! Also take notice to the amount of HP produced to hold the vehilce at speed... Just to keep it rolling at set spped of cruise control...

I wish everyone would slow down there is no need to be running 65-75 MPH... As I shown above there is no prove your getting better MPG at 70 MPH! Can you pull 600-650 miles to a tank in your Cummins??? I CAN! By just slowing down and keepping an eye on the Pyro <600*F...

The true SWEET spot is keep your pyro below 600*F and your boost under 5 PSI and 20+ MPG will come to you! This does mean driving slower (50-60 MPH) on average. Cummins wrote a good white paper on MPGs...

This is for a 80K pound truck... But the information is the same just the amount of power to move said load is less... But As shown by my pics and information in the white paper there is ZERO proof of traveling faster is going to net you a savings...

Honestly I'm not a heavy footed driver at all. I think what's killing me is that I live in the city with a lot of stop and go traffic.
