twin turbo setup
 

in the following weeks my truck will sport a twin setup but im wondering....

i was thinking of:
putting the bigger right on the manifold than hotpipe to the smaller than to downpipe
air filter to small one,than to big one than to intercooler

this way the pressure wont climb as much in the small as the big one...
or better plumping the big one to push into the tiny one for cold pipe?

I always thought you put the small one on first to help lower the lag of getting a big one spinning.

well i think that any order u put them flow will go anyway...
im pretty sure i must put bigger one onto manifold as its the harder to spin but as for cold side i saw both way....

On the cold side you want the big one first because it has a higher flow rate, I know you're thinking wellthe airhas to flow through both of them anyway, but it does make a difference. If you put the big one first it compresses the air to a higher pressure (density goes up)before it hits the small turbo. The increased density of the air entering the second turbo will flow more air molecules at the same volumetric flow rate. So lets say your engine needs 100 molecules of air per second and 100 molecules of air take up 10cubic inches of space. So the first turbo has to flow 10 cubic inches of air a second, but lets say it doubles the density, so now 100 molecules takes up just 5 cubic inches, so the second turbo only has to flow 5 cubic inches per second (so a smaller turbo is ok). Turbos run on pressure ratios so you aren't going to hurt the little guy because it is only going to see the pressure ratio it is making.

Hey guys .... Newbie to the site but not the diesel world ........ You need to run the smaller one on top..... now you will see about 75 more HP if you can weld the two together on the hot side .... thus removing the hot pipe. I did not believe this until I watched it done. One of the race teams in GA put the truck on the dyno and made a set of runs .... then took the twins off and welded them together ... and made another set of runs .... avg 75 HP increase.

really? only the hot pipe radius make this loss?
hum..i may check to make it straigh and as close as possible then....
