2500 vs 3500?
 

I am going to be purchasing a Ram diesel 5.9l soon"still looking for the one"
So besides tonage what is the difference between the 2500 and 3500.It will be a dailey driver 45miles round trip"freeway miles" then towing my 3500lb bass boat on the weekends.Some trips will be 500-600 miles round trip up over snoqualmie pass in washington state.Im just curious as if I find the 3500 first is it just to much and or should I just stick with waiting for a 2500?Either way a diesel will be purchased hopefully sooner then later.:icon_beerchug:

either or its up to you. the only diffrence is you can get a dually in a 3500 and you cant get a 2500 dually. thats the basic diffrence aside from the gvw.

The ONLY difference between the 2500 and 3500, if both are single rear wheels, is the overload springs in the rear and the weight rating.

Otherwise, they're identical.

Get the 3500. If for nothing else, the 3500s dont have TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) which is apparently a real pain in the rearend..

Physically, the only difference is the overloads, like mentioned above.

Awesome. Someone else asked my question recently. This is what I figured... just the overloads and the sticker/logos. Difference in payload though... and towing to a lesser extent. ~2500 pounds payload versus ~5000. I'll take the 1 ton for that rare occasion I want to go grab 2 yards of gravel.


Although once upon a time I did run 7000+ pounds of gravel in my W250's bed.

but you cant get a 3500 in short bed (2nd gen at least, im thinkin maybe the 3500 single wheels could be from 3rd and 4th gen) so if you dont want an 8ft bed im think 2500 would be up your alley. but what generation are you lookin for? my buddy is sellin his 3rd gen 2500, although it is moded. i think different gears, he has a chip, lifted. here http://jackson.craigslist.org/cto/1801750177.html

03 and up, 3500 is available single rear wheel and dual, and long and short (short only on SRW) bed
