2005 5.9 Cummins crank - no start after key left on for a week
Hey kids...
I have been posting, trying in the GEN THREE forum here but I don't seem to be getting anybody interested in playing.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...sitting-2.html
I was searching for Chassis codes and stumbled into this RAM Diesel TECH section.
As the title says, my friend parked 'ole reliable' then for some reason, he turned the key back on (perhaps to put up the windows?) and just got out with the key on... found the batteries dead, recharged
Now she will crank but won't start.
I currently show no Pcodes (previously P2509)(I believe that was from the dead battery event [lost power to PCM?]) Cleared...
-I hear the in tank lift pump (@ key on 1-2 seconds)(@ moment crank about 30 secs)
-I drained the fuel filter chamber and also with the lift pump running after moment crank *noted faster (pressure) at drain pipe -Lift pump ops - normal?
-I saw up to 6,700 PSI fuel pressure when cranking (common rail?) mostly in the 4800 psi
-No codes on odometer screen when 'key dance'
- C-codes on instrument cluster check as follows
C-CodE
61 89
81 00
AF 00
00 00
then displayed the odometer 291,205
The Snapon scanner [Versus Edge (borrowed) showed (as I fingered through the menus) it had a IMOBOLIZER KEY section but showed no communication when I tried it *CLUE
I showed a cranking fuel pressure (floating) of up to 6715 PSI when cranking but staying above 4700 psi
Any help you can offer me, so I can help a dear elderly friend with his ranch truck, would be most helpful
Cheers

She runs!
I awoke yesterday thinking TJ tried a second set of transponder keys, NO JOY and TJ disconnected and reconnected the batteries NO JOY... and I respect the man. BUT DON'T trust the other guy
The batteries are fully charged, but the terminals look wonky so while I was shorting them for the reset, I used the terminal brush tool and polished them (all four) up 'clean and bright', including all the bully wires attached to the terminal clamp bolts.
When I got in and was about to try to start it, I remembered the fly by wire throttle body and the reset procedure whenever the throttle body is disconnected, so I did that before engaging the starter.
It fired up and idled smooth.
