Question about '03's...
did the SO motors have the VP44?
|
RE: Question about '03's...
03 is when they swapped to the common rail.

RE: Question about '03's...
yeah but they had a standard output motor which had 235 or 250 HP, a carry over from the gen 2 truck as well as the 305 motor. so I just was curious as to the injector pump on the older motor... I'd expect it to be the VP44...

RE: Question about '03's...
Most likely it is the vp44. Drew will correct me if I'm wrong

RE: Question about '03's...
all 3rd gen 2/3500's are common rail. yes there were HO's and SO's but they all were HPCR's. the 2/3500's were a little late in the body style change over, DC did this to match when the new engines would be dropped in.
the programming on the SO's is very strange and alot of programmers have a hard time replaceing it, however you can still get some good upgradeable power out of them. |
RE: Question about '03's...
wow so it sounds like the '03's with the SO motor might be a unique setup... IIRC, the '04's dropped the SO motor

RE: Question about '03's...
04.5 is when the SO's went away, mainly since CARB certified the 325 with the cat so there was now only one engine instead of two or three since cali had their own engine. the 03 and 04's were definately a breed of their own.

RE: Question about '03's...
cool, better to know this info if Jim (co-worker) asks which one to get... if I can sway him over to the right side... CTD and away from the powerjunk and duracrap...
