My 04.5 with 3:73'shas 48k on it. I get 15 city about 19-20 highway (as long as I keep it around 65 MPH) Up the speed and the mileage will go down. My MPG was poor when I first go the truck...my city MPGwas about 13. Not good.Had much better mileage right off the bat with my '02 Duramax.

Why are we answering a question that is 3 years old and from a member who posted 3 times and last post was 3 years ago?

because we are all family here im sure someone will come across this in a search a little while down the line and it might help them out[sm=confused06.gif]

now jimmy, LOL, i still gotta ask like everyone else...... WHY THIS THREAD?

and to add to the subject i have an 05 that averages 13 city or freeway and it also have t he 410 rear end..... i keep thinking its a problem but after seeing more and more of the same base trucks doing the same numbers im starting to think its just the year and rear gears. i still have to send my oil away to see if its bad injector(s), but thats more of my way of warming up to the fact of letting myself purchase them ( hoping they are broke)...

Maybe it's because some of us are looking for this information. I am looking at getting a dodge Ram to replace my F150, so I can pull a fifth wheel, and I would like to know the comparison in fuel consumption between the two trucks.
PS, there may be more people looking for the same kind of info.

I bought a 2004 5.9 a couple months ago, its got 80,000 miles on it. in town i normally get about 19mpg and on the free way depending on the speed and weather between 20 and 25mpg. when i tow my horse trailer i pull about 14mpg. you bought a truck its not a honda civic. im told that around 100,000 the engine is fully broke in and it will pull its best fuel economy at that point. now if you still wanna check into your furl economy, check your air filter fuel filters engine oil and engine oil filter. if the airfilter of fuelfilter is not allowine enough through the filter the engin will bhave to work harder to get what it wants causing more fuel usage. the same thing goes for the engine oil and filter. if its been a while singe the engine oil has been changed the engine will have to work harder to move the oil through the engine.
