Default What a major piece of cr@p!!!!!

I dropped my fuel tank today so I could start on dual fuel pump project. I took the sending unit out that has the in-tank pump and it looks to be a major piece of crap! It is the cheapest looking piece of junk I have seen. It looks like an electric motor that came out of a cheap $1 chineese made toy from the 99 cent store. The made in mexico sticker should have been a good indication of what to find inside. I am surprised that my truck ran at all.

[sm=badidea.gif]Do not ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, get one of these put in your truck. If you have one, get rid of it as fast as you can.

Why drop the tank when it's quicker to lift the bed, I did it the hard way once, never again

90 gallon tank in bed plus hide a ball hitch made it easier to drop the tank. I'll have a complete set of pics when I finish the job. The tank was clean enough to eat out of (which surprised me), also not one drop of water. I also ran out of diesel about 10 miles from my house so I put about 1 gallon in it and made it home last night. I knew that I was going to drop the tank today so I carried my diesel can with me. The tank is light as a feather empty.

Yeah. That in tank system that Dodge came up with is a junker with a huge price tag. Basically all they did was knock off a gasser in tank, and a bad on at that, and ran it as diesel

The guys that have tested and torn the pumps apart don't seem to think they are total junk.

In fact the pump itself is pretty stout.

Well that explains one thing. I knew I was going to take the tank out so I let it get low on fuel. When it got low, the fuel PSI dropped. I guess the fuel was flowing thru the 5 tiny holes in the bottom of unit (next to the quarter in the picture).

Hey bob, a little off topic, but did you get those hump hoses / boots yet? I'm wondering how they worked and if you liked them?
