My old suburbans auto system was great, push button with indicator lights. Never failed. Also had an auto function where if I set it there and the truck sensed slippage it would engage the front end. Awesome for these crappy winter roads.

Just flip the ****....LOL J/K. I always put my truck in N andpu**** into 4X4H and all the way back to 4X4L and I never seem to get any grindage. I do it fairly fast though.

Mines an auto with floor lever and as long as the transmission is in Neutral it will go into 4L without any noise. I can't even get it to move towards 4L if I have it in gear.
