285/70R/17 tires
#3
if your looking for load range E tires, good luck... if not, you can get the Toyo Open Country A/T (which kick butt!) or the Bridgestone A/T Revo's for approx the same price... both are available in a Load Range E, but for about $200 each.... Both should be killer tires, the Toyo's I have experience with on the last truck...
This info is for the 265's (dunno if you CAN get a E 285), but shouldn't be much different for the 285's anyway...
Hope that helps...
Do the 285's significantly afect the speedo or gas mileage?

They barely affect the speedo you won't really notice. When I bought my truck it had 285 hankook mt's on it and I dropped them down to the 265 rugged trails because my 285's were only "D" rated and were to squishy for me. I got about a mpg or so better with the 265's but I belive it was just because the rolling resistance on the MT's sucked. If you get an all terrain 285 it really won't affect it much, maybe even get a little better milage on the highway due to slightly lower rpms.
