Default Speedometer sending unit location?

I have a 99 Ram diesel 4x4. The speedometer quit working. I bought a new sending unit, but my manual does not say where it is located. Anybody have the answer? Thanks!

Check the top of the rear differential.

That's my answer until I go check alldata... If I don't return and change it soon, look there.

Yup. Just checked and you should have a speed sensor bolted to the top of your rear differential. Before you open/destroy the packaging on the new speed sensor, make sure that's the problem first. I'd pull the old one out and clean it up, as well as checking for damaged wiring.

Default Too Late?

This is probably a little late. I had that problem a few years back (2000 Dodge 2500 diesel). My speedometer failed to read under about 25 miles per hour, but worked fine over that speed. Installed a new sensor on top of rear differential and that solved the low speed reading. The part was purchased from the local dodge dealership. (09/07/2005 Rear Wheel Speed Sensor $38.45) (part #56028187-AE Sensor WH 8037155) I installed it and it was pretty easy. Sorry I'm a new guy and was going back over as many posts as I could looking for information on something else.
