beware of front end shimmie
I am new to this forun and had some scary thing happen to me and my family.I thought it mite help someone beware of a possible near fatal situation. I was driveing my 2004 dodge ram ctd truck on the freeway at about 75 mph, when I hit a small bump in the road (while trying to pass an 18 wheeler)the front tires started to shimmie very bad, causing me to go across 2 lanes and into the bar ditch. luckily I did not crash or role before I come to a stop.Has anybody had something like this happen to them, and what did dodge do to fix the problem? also let me tell you about my truck, 2004 2500 ram with cummins, comepletely stock, includeing tires. It has 11000 miles on it.Just thought I would share this with everyone that has one. it could happen to you next. it's very scarey.luckily I was not toweing anything.

Whether or not you are BS'ing, I have never heard of this kind of trouble before. I have a 1500 and can assure you that it does not have this problem. Sounds like you need to get your truck back to the dealer PDQ, and if this is not BS, then why aren't you telling us that you have done that?

RE: beware of front end shimmie
theres no BS to this it is something that does happen and is the steering stabilizer, or the bar that gets bent
check it out yourself
if you do a search on DTR or Diesel Ram you'll find more info about this

That's crazy. Now from the little I read in the link you gave us, it looks like the stock stabilizer is the suspect. I wonder if an aftermarket stabilizer would be any better.

from what I hear, yes
edit: from what Ive seen this only happens on the 2/3500 4x4's. the 1500's are not with this and I think it may have something to do with the 900 pound load of the cummins thats partly at fault

It happens in the gas 3/4 and 1 tons too. Its called "death wobble". Alot of people have had success with putting heavier duty shocks on the front and steering stabilizers. Its the stiff suspension they have up front that causes it. kind of like bump steer on steriods. Levelers and improperly installed lift kits make it worse alot of times.
