Default Safe Tranny Temp

Hey Guys, I've got an '01 2500 Cummins, 4x4, quad cab w/ a 5 speed tranny. When I bought the truck, my intentions were to pull the crap out of anything I could buy and hook up to the truck. So, I installed a gauge pod w/ tranny temp., boost, and EGT. I only have 150.000 mi on the truck and am not sure how much more life the tranny has. I've been trying to find some ratings that would enlighten me as to what a safe operating temperature is on the transmission so I can prolong the life. Can you tell me where to find information like this?

You might want to ask the 2nd gen guys. 150K miles sounds good for a transmission life to me. If I were you, I'd expect the best, but anticipate a future overhaul. As far as the trany temps go, I think that they are around 170 or so. DOn't quote me on that, but I know an actual tranny temp was posted around here earlier. Just use the search function.

If it helps, I run around 150 after some good warmup time in traffic on an 80 deg day. I was running around 180 in traffic around town with a 97deg day.
