Default 2000 cummins 2500 4x4 with a lot of little problems... please help!

Hello all,
my old dodge is a 2000 cummins diesel with 325,000 miles, 4x4 off road package and towing package. I have used the truck for work for over 8 years now and it has led a hard life. it has been a good truck but lately things have been breaking.
The most pressing of these currently being that my 4 wheel drive will not engage. I have the manual shift on the floor for the 4x4 and it feels as if its engaing but the front tires will not spin. 4 low does gear down but again the front wheels will not engage. Also weather in 4 high or low the light does not come on...
Any advice of any sort would be very helpful, im not often in one place long enough to drop my truck at a dealer. thanks

Welcome to DF
I will move your post to the Ram Diesel section. But I would look at the linkage or the vacuum switch on the transfer box.

Track down your vacuum leak...

And if it's not a vacuum leak, then it's your CAD actuator on the front axle. You want to fix it, 4x4posilok is your friend.
