Default 2014 Ram Diesel Fuel Cap and Door

Hello,

I've been reviewing the various 3/4 ton trucks offered by the big 3 and have noticed the Dodge diesels have no provision for locking the fuel cap or door. You can't even thread a cap on the fueling port. What were the engineers thinking? With the price of fuel and the value of truck did they not think owners would like the piece of mind a locking cap or door offers. If nothing else it would provide indication if someone had tampered with the fuel. Does anyone know of a fix for this obvious oversight?

Our 2013 focus doesn't even have a gas cap. Most modern vehicles have provisions to prevent siphoning fuel.

If they are like most, putting a hose down the neck isn't going to be an easy task. There are anti siphon measures built into them. I'd be more worried about them drilling a hole in the bottom to get the fuel out since we all have plastic tanks nowadays.

Bingo. If someone wants your fuel, they'll get it.

But really, if people are looking to steal a quantity of fuel, their best bet is hitting the side tanks on the bigger Ryder/UHaul/Penske rental fleets.

Maybe not but it sure will make more noise and make them work a little harder for it. Everyone knows a lock just keeps an honest man honest anyway. But no sense in making it easier for them.
