that engine is just getting broken in
theres nothing like the old 12v engines. loads of bottom end torque.
if you dont see any leaks on the front gear cover, valve covers, rear main, just any leaks then it's good to go.
oh, and if the guy can show oil changes have been done on schedule that engine will last well past 400K

I have the same truck except with 4wd I have never had any big problems with it I think the worst was with the brake system. as far as the motor nothing (knock on wood) It's only used on the ranch now, just for the fact the interior has seen better days, but that truck will work hard for you and you will like the MPG it should be around 20-22 @ 68 mph. When I was younger my dad bought a 2500 brand new. We drove that thing everywhere. Since he passed almost 2 years ago that thing never gave him problems.
And now I have it and i'm at 312k miles. And aside from the brakes and a new tranny I have had no problems.
Nothing but good memories w/ that truck. And I hope you have the same.
