Basically a gasket is a one time shot, I've seen what happens first hand when someone reuses a pan gasket came apart and plugged up the screen on the oil pump was not pretty

I have checked on rockauto $34.79 Ea. but when you need to change fluid at 50K gets a little pricey, I have used Ultra black on other rear ends with no problem just didn't know if anybody else had did it on a dodge 4wd with any luck?

Thank you for your reply primem I will try and check @ the dealership with a dodge tech, what I was trying to say earlier don't want it to start leaking unknowingly till it's to late and noisy

YOU DON'T NEED A NEW GASKET. LISTEN TO WHAT OTHERS ARE TELLING YOU. I Have been reusing mine every 30k and I currently have 173k on the truck. Do a good cleaning and I have never had one drip.

I am a former gm and now new to dodge tech. the gasket that i posted looks like a reusable gasket. Even if the dealership does not have a reusable gasket for your truck...Do an internet search and you will find good quality reusable gaskets.

when you reuse them, just power wash them off and inspect them. do not use mineral spirits, brake cleaner etc.

I don't for see a problem with using rtv but i prefer to use what the manufacturer call for. Sometimes gaskets are used in an assembly for clearance...like the 6.7 oil pan...if the gasket is removed and rtv used...the crank hits the pan.

Thanks for the reply and information, I just wanted to do it right the first time with no surprises already spent about $3000 in parts doing repairs and maintenance on it winter is hard on vehicles here due to road salts

I understand and thank you for making it more clear for me and I do believe they are not sure yet won't really know until I take it apart
