Default Can the trans from a 97' be modified to fit in a 91?

I have a 3 speed automatic transmission from a 1997 3.9 Dodge van. I was wondering if it would be possible to use this in a 1991 with a 3.9 or are they far too different? Thanks for any help.

It is not possible to swap non-Magnums and Magnums trannies.

Besides, there were other changes from 1991 to 1995 that deals with vacuum/valves switching over to electronic controls. The repair manual makes my head spin looking at all of it.

If you had a 1991 Dakota 3.9L and tranny, you might be better off. Just check the mounts.

Thanks Steve! I figured it probably would not work. The 97' trans has been sitting around my garage for a while and I was just hoping to ba able to get it out of there.[sm=burnout.gif]
