Trouble changing water pump
Hi I'm trying to change the water pump on my 2000 Ram 1500 van and can't get the fan clutch off I have the special tool but it won't come loose which way do you turn the bolt if you're underneath facing the front I've been turning it clockwise from the back because I read online it's counter clockwise from the front can anyone figure this out because now I have no car and have to walk everywhere. Also what kind of bolts are the water pump pulley bolts and where are they located I read they were allen bolts.

Did you follow the link? The pry bar did nothing for me either. I had to removed the water-pump and the fan+clutch assembly from the engine. Once removed, place the water-pump into a good vice, then take a saw-zal to the nut, but spaced where my threaded post says, this is how you can then separate the two.

I'm 99.99% certain it's clockwise if you're standing in front of the vehicle and looking at the motor. You can look at the pitch on your fan and figure it out. Naturally you will need to look at your serpentine belt routing and see if the fan turns the same direction as the motor.

I use a chain wrench like this to hold pulleys.
