Default Courtesy Lights

We just got the van. While I had the door panel off to replace a window motor, I noticed an unused connector that I am assuming is for courtesy lights which the van didn't come with. Any one know if this is hot, and switched?

Purchase a cheap, under $10 digital volt meter from a hardware store and take a couple of voltage measurements... with the door open and the switch on/off, then you can answer your own question

electrical issues are more easily solved with the proper tool... a meter is essential to solving these questions

I guess I misunderstood the purpose of the forum. Of course I could take the door back apart, cut the liner and check for power, but I thought maybe someone here had been there done that, and could just answer the question.

You know I have a stock '01 B2500 and it has no courtesy doors lights. I figured your van was a custom, and who knows what type of custom it is as you did not furnish that information, as if all custom vans were alike.

I always viewed this forum as a place to ask for a little DIY help... after all if you didn't need just a little help to do it yourself, then you would have taken it to a garage and let them figure it out.

Sorry if you did not get the answer you required... but I thought I put you onto the correct path to help find the answer to your question absent any other replies.

You are correct, you did misunderstand the purpose of this forum. This forum is to help with questions posed by people legitimately seeking help. The ******* forum is down the hall if you still need it.

If you were inclined to know if the connector was indeed live, then checking it while the door panel was off would've been the prudent course of action, as opposed to getting snotty with the one that gave you the correct advice despite your unwillingness to help yourself.
