Default 03 5.9ltr conversion van reliability?

I just got it for 5800 and i am trying to decide if i should get a 3000 dollar 100k mile warrenty on it. It has 113k miles. I know it depends on how it was taken care of but do these vans go past 200k with original trans and motor ect... ?

Yes for the most part they do. As with anything there are exceptions, so there are no guarantees.

I don't think anyone on a forum will be able to accurately give you the answers you need. The best thing to do is to get the van checked out by a mechanic (preferably before you buy it) and then go from there.

Like Tommy said, no one can really give you an accurate answer without at least inspecting it.

That said, I've owned 40+ vehicles in my time and my 2000 5.2L conversion van has been the 2nd most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. With care and regular maintenance there are still a number of these Dodge Ram vans on the road with over 270k miles.

I wouldn't sell or trade mine for twice what I've got in it

I had an '89 B250 with 5.2 that I put over 250K on before it rusted out and I quit using it in 2001, but the engine still ran strong and never gave me a problem.

I had a '94 B250 that I put on 270K miles before I wrecked it in 2005... engine ran strong, never had a problem, tranny replaced at 117K ( I did a lot of towing with it).

I now have an '01 B2500 with 170K... engine is strong, just replaced the tranny... I have not done a lot of towing with this one and the transmission was not shot, I just want this van to be 100% as I only drive it long distances to travel and plan on keeping it for a number of years.

Based on my experience, I would have the tranny serviced and looked at, as my rebuilt unit just cost me $2600 installed.
