Default help me stop wasting $ on my B250 problem

Hi. I am the a new owner of my 1994 Dodge B250 with 94000 miles on it. The engine is a 5.9 liter. It sat for years I guess. I know this isnt good for vehicles. The seller said he started it once in a while over those years. I test drove it and it ran great so i bought it and 30 minutes into my drive home going up a hill it started to shake and shudder and backfire and lose power. Then it progressively ran worse even on flat ground and the next few Hills it barely made it up them at 5 miles an hour. I left it sit overnight and when I started it up in the morning it ran great for 20 minutes and then it started having the same symptoms. I changed a lot of parts on it and I still have the same symptoms. I got new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, cam shaft sensor, the pick up? plate located under the distributor cap.
Theres no check engine light on.
I guess im asking for advice on what the next cheapest possible culprit might be.
Thank you

The fuel pump sounds like it's failing or the catalytic converter is clogged.

Thanks alloro! I took it to an exhaust place and they said the cat flow tested great. I guess that leaves the expensive fuel pump.

I would test the pump PSI before changing it. Is the gas in the tank the old gas or have you added more?

Hi,
have you solved the problem? I am curious, because I have the same one with my 1994 b250.

when cars sit with big gas tanks that are not totally full of gas, the air in the tank expands and contracts with temperature moving moist air into the tank that condenses and puts water into the gas tank... this happens faster with a metal tank then a plastic tank, but it happens. the two don't mix... gas floats on water... the water bubble will eventually get sucked into the gas line and your engine will run crappy if it all... you need to empty the tank, pour in some dry gas, then empty that and purge the fuel line...

Typical plenum gasket symptoms. If it's not the fuel or pump check the gasket.

Sorry for the late response. I guess I'm not getting notifications.

So it turned out to be a bad fuel pump.
