Gen Light coming on with AC

I recently purchased a 96 ram van 5.2l and when I turn on the car and have the AC going to battery dips down to 10-9 volts and the GEN light comes on. If I turn it off the battery gauge goes back up to 12.5 or so where it should be. I had autozone check the battery and alternator and said battery is getting older but alternator tests were fine.

If I drive for a bit and turn the AC on the volts stay as they should 12.5 or so.

any idea why the GEN light would be on and how to fix this?

Compressor may be going bad and putting too much load on the engine.

Thanks for the reply here.

Yeah that would make sense. The weird part is it only seems to happen on startup if I run the AC. If I have been driving for 5 or so minutes then turn on the AC battery level stays normal and no GEN light...

You should see over 14 volts with the engine running.

The belt is slipping.

the alternator belt? Do I need a new belt or new alternator or both?

I would start with the belt. If they are all the same vintage (assuming v-belts) replace them all.

So That is the Serpentine Belt. What all other belts should be replaced? Would you be able to list them out?

If you have serpentine belt, then there should only be one.
