Would a 1992 Fuel Gasoline Tank fit in a 1996
I need to change a gas tank in my 1996 Ram van 250 with 318 engine.
I can get a tank from a junk yard off a 1992 250B. Will this be a viable solution ? I hope someone out there in this forum who knows. I tried several free interchange sites ( pullapat etc.) with no luck. The rockauto site is showing same part no.s to the neck part and straps. Hence, I thing they are swappable. Hoe abt the tank ??? Thanx in advance for your knowledgeable advice. |
If I remember correctly, they're both in the back and should interchange - as long as the fuel pump will fit and / or be compatible (sorry, don't know off the top of my head....). I do know that both had a couple different sizes available. I would carefully measure the mounting points and straps. I'm thinking that worst case, you'll need to use the straps off the 92 if it's slightly different size... Know that's not a firm yes, but hopefully helpful... Can you drop the one on your van first, take pictures, measure carefully and such before you go to get the one from the salvage yard?

I used the retainer ring of an earlier tank when I did the pump on my 96 B2500.
I'd bet cheap old Chrysler used the same tank from 91 to 97. |

I'd bet cheap old Chrysler used the same tank from 91 to 97. The pump assy. was clamped in the old tank and the newer tank has threads in the opening. Other than the structure appeared to be of same dimensions. |
