Default Rig Blower Motor Resistor

Hi (yet again)
i know many have had probs w/the blower motor resistor with fix not easy if motor is the prob.. I've replaced the connector at the resistor and with multiple new resistors my mid fan setting doesn't work. Well actually does about 1 out of 15 times I switch to it but stops shortly. Low and high fan works fine. My question is if I disconnect the mid fan wires from the connector and move the high wires from the fan over to the mid connector wires can I safely get low and mid fan settings and lose high without blowing the fan or something. I end up with only 4 wires into the connector with this plan.
Thanks

Should work just fine. The only difference in the wires coming out of the resistor block is how much resistance they are passing thru.
