Default Engine loses power and sputters for a couple minutes after driving for a while.

97 dodge 5.9L
Engine loses power and sputters after driving for a while. Runs great until this happens. Will do it for a mile or two then be better. Every time this happens, the radio audio cuts out just before. Every time. When the engine stops sputtering the radio audio returns. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Tom

Sounds like you need to leave the radio off. Lol. Just kidding, The only approach to a problem like this is to get a wiring diagram and see what else is on the same circuit. As always, check all ground connections first. I think you have have a bad connection somewhere but cant say for sure.

Swap out the ASD relay and see if that makes a difference.

Default Wasn’t the ASD

It sounded like the cure but wasn’t. Thanks for the suggestion. I swapped out the ASD and it did not help. The problem does occur when the engine is nice and warm. After 30 or 40 miles of driving at least.

Default Try this

If you are at the point of throwing parts at it, I would try the ignition coil, You can get a cheap one and try it. Coil failures are sometimes attributed to heat.
