stealth questions....
Hi,I'm new to this board,I am a mechanic with over 20 years under my belt,and I am a DSMer myself,with a 93 GSX.
I haven't had a whole lot of run ins with Stealths, but a new customer of mine has 1 and wants to play with it. Here's what I have. It's a 91 RT,he wants to build it N/A,but as far as I can see, there's no support for the 91 and 92s. The 93 and up,from what I gather is a 4 bolt main, forged factory crank,etc...is it possible to swap a built 93 and up motor into his 91,and what all is required to do it? Any information will be greatly appreciated. |
Their are a fair amount of people modifying the NA's. The 2 bolt block has shown to hold up very well. The downside is the cast crank, rods and pistons. Yes it is possible to swap in 93+ motors. I think the biggest difference would be the cam sensor. 91 has an adjustable one on the back of the motor, while the 92.5+ have one on the cam gear. I would look up other differences on 3SI.org and Stealth316.com.
How far does he want to go? Might be easier to jsut buy an TT motor and swap out the harness and ECU. People then use the AWD trannys as they are pretty beefy and weld the center diff and just run FWD. |
