could this be an ecu problem

No. Usually if it was bad after the swap, it was bad before the swap...

I have never replaced the PTU, but it appears to be plug and play with just a few bolts/nuts holding it on. I would have to give it a closer look to know for sure. I am at work no, but at lunch time I can give it a look.


*edit: Ignition signal is; Engine sensors (CAS & MAS)---> ECU----->PTU---->Coils---->Plugs

Got the rebuilt ecu back and installed a week ago. Logged about 100 miles since without a problem.
