Car overheated, now it won't start
 

So here's my major ****uation. I have a dodge stratus, 2002 6cyl with about 95,000 miles.
The other morning I was on the freeway and the car got hot and into the red. I was close to my destination, so I drove about another 10-15 miles before I decided I prolly wasn't gonna make it. I pulled off the next off ramp and pulled over and shut the car off. There was a little bit of white smoke which was to be expected since it was over heating.
I left the car there and took care of my business and returned an hour and a half later. The car didn't start. It didn't even crank. Had a spinning noise of sorts.
Thank god for AAA, I was able to get towed back home. I thought maybe it might start later because it was still pretty hot. So I tried it again the next day. Second verse same as the first.
So I called a bunch of car savy friends to see what they might think was wrong with it. And of course I got things of a simple solution and fix to of course worse possible scenario.
I did decide to pull a couple of the spark plugs. The two that I pulled were covered in oil.
I'm thinking the worse, but am needing help, suggestions, or just the real bad news.

time to shop for a toyota, honda, or some other quality car. and donate yours to your local HS, or technical school for the maximum tax deduction

A 'quality' car? Like the Toyotas that take off on their own? Or the Hondas that eat oil? No vehicle or manufacturer is perfect. OP is the only one to blame for this.

Most likely you locked the engine up. If a car over heats, pull over. They don't just put those gauges in the car for fun.

I drive a toyota and it's given me zero problems for 200,000 miles. I'm on my 3rd set of brake pads and 4th set of tires. 2nd set of plug wires, 3rd set of plugs but still on the original clutch.

if this car has the 2.7 he might as well just get another car because it's going to cost more to fix a broken 2.7 than a nice quality replacement
