EGR Valve Location?
Please help. I have a 2001 SE 3.0 V6 coupe. I have a code for insufficient EGR flow, and the car cas a low idle and sometimes fluctuates. I wanted to try to clean it and check the hose and connections before I buy a new EGR. Can someone provide a picture to show me where it is located? I cannot find it. I tried searching already, no luck there either. Please help, thanks.
Also, what type of cleaner is recommended to clean the EGR? TB cleaner? |
You will fine the EGR valve on the back of the intake pleunm. Near the P/S pump, and there is also an EGR tube too.

That looks like an egr valve.

No, the egr valve is between the intake plenum and firewall.

I am not positive what you have circled but I am positive where the egr valve is. I replaced the one on my girlfriend's car last year.

Looks like the EGR to me...but alright. Is it hard to get to? Will I have to remove the intake mani?

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...1227000834.jpg Here are a couple of pics. The best I could come up with right now. The car is outside covered in a few inches of snow and it is about 20 degrees out. It is a little tight back there but you will be able to remove it without pulling the intake. The hardest part is getting the egr gasket lined up while putting it back on. It is pretty straight forward. You should have no problems. |
