Default 04 stratus coupe 4 cylinder automatice transmission longevity

how stable are the transmissions in the 04 4 cylinder coupe cars? i had an 01 v6 auto and loved the car till the tranny decided to die at 110k miles, come to find out thats about the life expectancy of those transmissions. so I'm a little leery of getting another stratus with an automatic but I've heard the auto's in the 4 cylinders are much tougher and have a lot higher life expectancy then the ones in the v6 models. the car I'm looking at has 140k miles on it. i will be very interested though if i can reasonably expect 180-200k miles out of it with proper maintenance. is that a realistic expectation/hope or is it more then its likely to give? the car I'm looking at does not have the auto-stick feature

Smile Transmission

I don't know if the 4 cylinders and 6 cylinders use the same transmissions, but my son has a 2006 V6 2.7 Stratus Sedan that has 146,000 plus miles and has not had any transmission issues, however he changed the filter & fluid at 70,000 miles, at 100,000 miles and recently. I believe if the tranny was serviced properly, it should be fine.

I don't know about the v6 transmission, but if you had it serviced and the person didn't use ATF+4 transmission fluid, that could be the issue right there.

I have a 175k on my stratus, 2.4DOHC with an auto and both the engine and transmission are the originals. Every 50k miles, I swap out the fluid and filter. ATF+4 (even the walmart brand is approved by Mopar and I actually use that in the stratus and the durango) is the only trans fluid to use in the stratus transmissions AFAIK.
