Trunk won't open
 

Hey y'all. I'm having a pretty interesting issue with my 98 Stratus. When I bought the car, the key wouldn't open the trunk, which didn't bother me so much because the trunk release lever worked fine. Today, that just crapped the bed, so in order for me to get something in or out of my trunk, I have to put the back seat down.

Any ideas?

When you get the trunk open, there is a little switch next to the latch (on the floor side). It's basically a shutoff for the remote release. I've bumped it a few times loading/unloading and wondered why the lever by the driver door didn't do anything. Of course, it's possible the cable snapped and you'll just have to replace either the cable, the lock, or both, to keep from having to climb into the trunk from the backseat.

^^^ This is exactly what happened to me. The trunk lock got switched to the closed position by accident and like the OP my key seldom works. With a few minutes of jiggling the key in the lock and a fair amount of cuss words though I did finally get the trunk back open and unlocked the trunk release.

Trunk wont open on 2006 dodge stratus doesn't have the switch any ideals?
