3.0 Clicking

3.0 Clicking
I've posted before with no results... i am hoping somebody can help. When the car starts on a cold morning (under about 40 degrees) the engine has an extremely loud click. Almost sounds like an old deisel engine. The dealer has no idea what it is and never fixed it during the 2 months they had it in their shop last spring. I do have a video of what it does and will try to post it if i can, if not i can email it if you want to hear what it does... please help!!

RE: 3.0 Clicking
could be, mine started out for 20 seconds or so and got much much worse. THe clicking was soo loud my neighbors would look out the window to make sure my car wasnt in fire or anything. Engine mount was also blown out. How cold was it there when it clicked and what does it sound like??

RE: 3.0 Clicking
Honestly, it's probably the hydraulic adjusters in the valvetrain. It's a common problem in the 3.0 engines, they just drain of oil and the cold exacerbates the problem. Rev the engine up a little and it will go away. Mine does it as well when it's cold out, but I have yet to examine the sound further. I do know there is a clicking sound associated with the timing components as well, but it comes distinctly from the passenger side of the engine.

RE: 3.0 Clicking
how many miles are on your car? i have around 60k, and while i have the clicking noise on startup, the injectors on these cars are noisy...and very faint...
as for the motor mounts being bad, welcome to the club...ive replaced my front and rear mounts with solid mounts from deyeme racing. ive not replaced the side mount, and that is the noisy one now...but it only creaks when its under 60 degrees or so, and once everything in the engine bay heats up, it goes away.

84k on mine. It needs a timing belt change anyway, but problems with hydraulic adjusters are a common, well known problem.
I had horrible creaking sound from the engine mount on the right. Finally got around to replacing it with a Prothane insert, problem solved. The old one was a bit ripped.
