I've heard that powdercoating is durable.. I'd like to powder coat my stock rims... IDK anything about powdercoating... is it hard? is it expensive? how do I do it? and how do you think it will hold up against the wear and tear of daily driving?
Powdercoat has to be baked on so you'll need to have it done at a shop. I had talked to a local shop about getting my wheels done and they quoted me $80 a wheel to powdercoat them hyper-black. I've decided I'd rather save up for 20's though.
Have you considered the Dupont wheel paint? I've seen some very good results from that on my teg forum when I had my other car. As long as you prep well and take your time it looks very nice.
Powder coating hangs in there and is very tough. It's applied by static, the part being coated is - and the coating is + then baked on. There are quite a few powder coaters out there. $80.00 a wheel is a bit of a poke. I just had 4 wheels and front suspension parts done for $150.00
