I'd start with changing the oil and oil filter, cap and rotor, and the spark plug wires, since you've already done the plugs. A fuel treatment wouldn't hurt... have you checked the trans fluid? Check and replace the air filter if necessary... The o2 sensors could be causing you're problem... head to AutoZone and have them check your car's computerfor current and stored codes.
C'mon everyone else... what am I missing...?

The Neons are known for the ignition coil going bad at around that mileage. If it is the coil, you can get an MSD replacement coil at Jegs for $70. As long as you do not have a pacemaker(you may get zapped by the spark, I've been zapped once or twice, no biggie) you can disconnect one plug wire at a time, while the car is running, to see if you are getting any spark out of the coil and to the plugs. Even if you are getting spark, it may be to weak to cause combustion(not making it through the wire). For $40 you can get the MSD Super Conductor wires which are so much better than stock it's like the difference between a tri-cycle and a formula 1 car.

while your in the bal park and working on it neons are known for head gasket problems and most need replacing before 100,000 not saying yours needs it but if it goes unchecked and leaking it could lead to more problems.

That may have answered my question about my car. I've started to noticed a problem when I'm in idle or just starting to gain speed. It'll try to cut, sputter and such, then it catches like nothing was wrong. Now I have a better idea of what to check.

I've had waaaaaaay too many problems with my neon lately to appreciate it much. Anybody want to buy it?
