70-80's turn signal switches
 

I have a 79 dodge D100, broken turn signal switch, common problem. however, the part NAPA sells and is sold on internet, is slightly different(piece with two wires hanging off) Original has plastic molded clips that catch and hold moving part when you go right or left, new one has no clips, but has what looks like little posts hanging down.[/align][/align]Itis like they rev'd these or something and i have a half of each type? Anyone know what the story is? When clips break off, it won't stay up (common) ; maybe the new one with little psots is better, but you need whole lower half then? Some show a little spring coil, minehas a flatspring .[/align][/align]While on the forum, what does the early 318 2 bbl EGR unit do on these? "EGR amplifier " (vacuum) and solinoid???[/align][/align]Thinking of getting rid of all that , bumping timing, as only 2 deg advanced . Anyone know what adv curve is like ? [/align][/align]Finally, don't use those nylon oil pressaure tubes. this had one, it gets like uncooked spaghetti, snaps instantly like glass.= disaster. Copper tube only..[/align]

dont know much about turn sig. stuff. the egr amplifer is like a elec. relay, it just swiches power, or vaccum. on some engines you can undo the egr but some engines dont like it. you might try a mopar performance dist it has a diff curve, but idont remember just what it is. dont use copper for oil pres. line. some times copper will fatiuge and break off. break line tubeing works best, its steel it will not break. its a little harder to work withbut it will hold up.
that is why the factory uses steel on trans cooler lines and fuel lines. dont use copper any where on tour truck or car
